While the editing process grinds on, the characters of Once Upon a Wrensong are sitting around a metaphorical fireplace and drinking cocoa. Since they’re not doing doing much else right now, I think you should meet some of them!
Maggie Dorney: Our Heroine. 30-something, a little closer to 40 than she’d like. Plump and freckly with a heart that yearns for adventure. Works as a bookbinder at the local museum and library.
Calder Davies: Our Hero. We’re not really sure how old he is, because bopping in and out of the Otherworld does weird things to your age. Tall, suntanned, athletic, and more than a little bit fae-touched. Bound to the Faerie Princess; he calls it a curse, and it’s hard to argue.
Brittany (or “Brits” to those she likes): Maggie’s best (only?) friend. Also her boss. Tiny. Perfect features. Impeccable fashion sense; hair that changes colors nearly every day. Has No Time for your nonsense. Really dislikes the bells at Holy Trinity for some reason; runs a tight ship.
Father Joseph Neumann (usually “Father Joe): the pastor. Fond of a good cassock. Usually smiling; average homily clocks in at 7.5 minutes. Responsible for Holy Trinity but not, oddly, the rest of Hillford County. Likes to leave the windows of the church open for the breeze and the birdsong.
Sister Cecilia Elizabeth: the nun. As tiny as Brits, calm and serene and smiling. Stationed at Holy Trinity. Graceful as a bird on the wing. If she wasn’t so sweet, you’d suspect her of being mischievous.
Eirlys, Arving of the Otherworld: the Princess. Daughter of the King and Queen of Faerie-Land. Hold the curse that binds Calder. Not a pleasant person, unfortunately.
Chrysocolla: the Landlady. Makes the best pies with the biggest portions in her section of the Otherworld. Also a cat.
Several of my favorite characters are still in the wings. I can’t wait for you to meet them, so come back again soon!
